2021 Pinot Noir - Pommard Clone
Originally thought to be a "suitcase clone" smuggled into the country from France in the mid-20th century, the Pommard clone Pinot Noir has been integral to the California Pinot Noir program since its widespread planting in the 1960's and 1970's. Perhaps overshadowed since the introduction of the Dijon clones in more recent times, we feel that our Pommard vines still hold a certain level of distinction and notoriety in the vineyard.
Whereas our Three Lions Pinot Noir is a blend of three different clones, the Pommard Pinot Noir beautifully showcases this particular clone on its own. A true representation or our terroir, this wine is a dualistic balance of rugged, meaty dark fruit and velvety elegance. Elements of sage, eucalyptus, and dusted cherries allow this wine to be paired with fireside chats, pork belly, pizza, laughter with loved ones, and beef bourguignon.
